Upper St. Clair Commissioner Resigns

The Board of Commissioners announces with regret the resignation of Rex A. Waller, At-Large Commissioner, effective March 2, 2021. 

Commissioner Waller served on the Board of Commissioners from 2014-2017 and from 2019 until present. In 2016-2017, Commissioner Waller was Vice President of the Board of Commissioners. 

Commissioner Waller spoke with emotion to the commissioners and the public during Monday night's Board of Commissioners meeting, expressing his gratitude for the wonderful community in Upper St. Clair.

"I wish all of you continued success," he said.

"It's been a true pleasure working with you," replied Daniel R. Paoly, Vice President of the Board of Commissioners, at Monday's announcement. "Don't be a stranger. Come back and visit."

In accordance with the Home Rule Charter, the Township is seeking a resident to serve the remainder of this year following Commissioner Waller's resignation. The individual appointed to this position will serve through Jan. 2, 2022. A special election to fulfill the remainder of the term (Jan. 3, 2022 - Jan. 1, 2024) will be scheduled.

Any resident interested in being considered for appointment to this vacancy should send a resume and letter of interest to Matthew R. Serakowski, Township Manager, Township of Upper St. Clair, 1820 McLaughlin Run Rd., Upper St. Clair, PA 15241. This information must be received at the Township Manager's office no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2021. 

Qualifications for At-Large Commissioner are U.S. Citizenship and residence in the Township of Upper St. Clair for a minimum of one (1) year. The individual must be a qualified voter of the Township and remain the same during the term of office.
