Sept. 7, 2023
Every 10 years following the new census, the Township is required by election law to evenly distribute all wards by population. The Township approved the changes regarding wards last year, as it was passed by the Board of Commissioners at a public meeting on Dec. 5, 2022.  This information was then forwarded to the Elections Division of Allegheny County for processing.

This year, Allegheny County notified the Township that the voting districts must also be redistributed to keep voting districts under 1,200 registered voters. The Board of Commissioners then passed the change in certain voting districts at a separate public meeting on Aug. 7, 2023.

Since the shifting of voting districts requires court action, the Elections Division of Allegheny County, on the week of August 28, 2023, notified the affected neighborhoods of the scheduled hearing by placing public notice signs around the Township in voting districts that will go into effect this year.  Those impacted wards and districts are limited to Ward 3, Districts 2 and 3, and Ward 5, Districts 1 and 2.

All procedures regarding the 2022 change in wards and the recent change in voting districts were required by Allegheny County and properly passed by the Board of Commissioners at public meetings. All further notification of possible polling location updates shall be accomplished by the Elections Division of Allegheny County following the conclusion of the necessary hearings.
