Upper St. Clair Commissioners Honor Girl Scout Gold Award Recipients

Lillian Spencer and Srinidhi Rukmani Rajaganapathy were each presented with a Proclamation at the Board of Commissioners’ meeting on Monday, November 7, 2022 by Commissioner Pamela Enck for their attainment of the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Lillian completed her project by addressing the issue of generational biases developing into negative stereotypes that lead to discrimination and exclusion to children at two local YMCA day camps. She achieved her project goal through diversity education and art which she created.

Srinidhi Rukmani’s project involved beautifying the Montour Trail through the addition of educational signs to encourage people to use the trail. This provided for increased access with nature while adding historical perspectives that will keep trail users engaged. A Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest recognition for achievement issued by the Girl Scouts of USA, that a Girl Scout in grades 9th through 12th may earn. The award recognizes girls who demonstrate extraordinary leadership for those who aspire to transform an idea and vision for change into an actionable plan while setting the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.
