This was the first time the Miracle League of South Hills took their team on the road. They headed to Cincinnati to take on the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League for the inaugural Miracle Series at the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields in Fairfield, Ohio.
Miracle League of South Hills Executive Director, Tim Gebhart with Township Manager, Matthew R. Serakowski and Miracle League of South Hills President & Founder, Sean Casey.
Upper St. Clair Township Manager, Matthew R. Serakowski and Chief of Police, Jonathan Wharton, shared a few words of encouragement for the players and their families as they prepared to head out for their first away trip.
The Miracle League of South Hills was formed in 2008 by Upper St. Clair native and former Cincinnati Reds player, Sean Casey, and carries on the mission statement of all Miracle League fields: “Every Child Deserves A Chance to Play Baseball”.
Chief Jonathan Wharton with Sarah Dade, Sean Casey and Officer Sean Truver.
The Miracle Field located in Boyce Mayview Park, Upper St. Clair, PA, brings the game of baseball to children who may have never had the opportunity to play on a real field. It features a custom-designed field with a cushioned rubberized surface to help prevent injuries along with wheelchair accessible dugouts and flat surfaces to eliminate any barriers to wheelchair bound or visually impaired players.
Congratulations to all of the Miracle League of the South Hills participants, coaches, volunteers, Sean, Tim, Miranda and staff for such a successful weekend event in Cincinnati.
