High School Flutist Honored By Upper St. Clair Commissioners
The National Association for Music Education's (NAfME) All-National Honor Ensembles represent the top performing high school musicians in the United States. Miss Chen, a flutist and a junior at Upper St. Clair High School, was selected to the NAfME All-National Concert Band after successfully auditioning through the 2020 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All Concert Band. Miss Chen performed in the All-National Honor Ensembles which was held virtually on Jan. 7-9, 2021.
Commissioner Dante R. Plutko presented Miss Chen the proclamation on Monday, April 5, 2021. Miss Chen thanked the Upper St. Clair community for supporting music education. She also thanked Dr. John Seybert, performing arts curriculum leader for the school district, for his continued support.
Miss Chen was previously named the first-place winner of the Central Ohio Flute Association Competition, Junior Division in spring 2019. She is also a member of the high school's biology and art clubs.
