John Paul Rainone was recognized by the Board of Commissioners at the April 1 regular meeting for the attainment of the Eagle Scout rank. Commissioner Ronald J. Pardini presented Rainone’s proclamation.

“What John Paul has done is quite impressive,” said Commissioner Pardini. “He has demonstrated leadership and citizenship through his achievements in and out of scouting. We thank John Paul for his contributions to the community and congratulate him on the attainment of the Eagle Scout rank.”

Rainone’s award represents the most advanced level of achievement in skill, service and leadership in Scouting. For his Eagle Scout project, he expended 360 hours with 45 volunteers by replacing two horseshoe pits and mulching a trail at the Bethel Park Lions Club Park. John Paul raised the funds for this project through a pancake breakfast and donations. His donations exceeded his expenses, so he donated leftover money to the Lions Club.

In addition to being a member of Scout Troop 4, Rainone, a junior at USCHS, is involved in the high school’s Junior Mentor and Peer Tutoring programs, is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and is a member of the varsity cross country team.
