The American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Pittsburgh has presented Larson Design Group (LDG) and the Township of Upper St. Clair with the 2023 Outstanding Highway Engineering Award for the McLaughlin Run Road roundabout project. It won the category of projects less than $7 million. The award was given to LDG at ASHE Pittsburgh’s Nov. 4 Past Presidents’ Banquet.

The project, which opened to traffic in August of 2022, featured a free-flowing single-lane roundabout and included the replacement of two structures, sidewalks, ADA curb cut ramp, lighting and pavement marking installation, guide rail and drainage improvements.

Projects that were nominated were judged on six categories:

• New Applications of Existing Techniques, Originality and Innovation
• Complexity
• Social and Economic Considerations
• Safety
• Aesthetics and Sustainable Features
• Meeting and Exceeding Owner and Client Needs
