Upper St. Clair to Host Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Nov. 10

The Township of Upper St. Clair, in partnership with the Upper St. Clair School District, will host its annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony at Veterans Park on Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m. The event will also be streamed on the Township's YouTube page. 

This year’s ceremony will feature musicians from the Upper St. Clair School District and Keynote Speaker, retired United States Army Colonel Bernard Lindstrom. Colonel Lindstrom is a Western Pennsylvania native, commissioned through the US Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. He served in Engineer Regiment and the US Army Corps of Engineers in the US Army for 25 years. He is passionate about educating people through action about sacrifice and service.

Colonel Lindstrom served in key command and leadership assignments at numerous posts, camps and installations across the globe including: Commander, Pittsburgh District, US Army Corps of Engineers; Operations Officer, US Forces Korea; Commander, Nashville District, US Army Corps of Engineers; Construction Management Chief, 18th Engineer Brigade, US Army Europe; Brigade Executive Officer, 18th Engineer Brigade (Theater Army); Battalion Executive Officer and Operations Officer, 94th Combat Engineer Battalion, Vilseck, Germany. He served over two years in combat operations including: Operation Provide Promise, Balkans; Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan; and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq.

His education includes a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Mercer University, a master’s degree in business administration from Benedictine College and a master’s degree in strategic studies, energy and environment from United States Army War College.

Colonel Lindstrom returned to Western Pennsylvania in 2012 with his wife, Cara, and their three children John, Alexander and Ray, residing here in Upper St. Clair. He is a proud member and currently serving as the President of the Rotary of Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Breakfast.

Veterans Park is located next to the Upper St. Clair Municipal Building, located at 1820 McLaughlin Run Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. Parking will be available in the lot next to the Municipal Building and Veterans Park.
