Township Commissioners Honor Upper St. Clair Swimmer

Commissioner Todd D. Burlingame presented Upper St. Clair High School junior swimmer Kaitlyn Connors with a Certificate of Achievement on May 1, 2023, for winning the 2023 Swimming Class AAA Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Championship in the girls' 100-yard freestyle for the second-straight year.

Upper St. Clair High School swimming and diving coach Dave Schraven joined her to accept the honor.

“Congratulations on capturing a WPIAL title in the 100-yard freestyle for the second year in a row,” said Commissioner Burlingame. “Thank you for your commitment to both individual and team success, and all of us here wish you the very best moving forward.”

“Kaitlyn has been a WPIAL champion in each of her three years in high school swimming,” said Schraven. “She is in great company, and we all wish her the best of luck to try to achieve this accomplishment again next year.”

Connors also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle, was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished in second-place and part of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished in third-place.

At the 2023 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA Championship, Connors placed fifth in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. The 200-yard medley relay team finished fifth as well – which Connors was also a member of.
