Upper St. Clair Commissioners Recognize Track And Field Champion For Second Consecutive Year

The Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners presented Dani Prunzik with a Certificate of Achievement Tuesday night for her first-place finish at the 2022 Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Class AAA Girls' Track and Field Championships in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.28 seconds. The incoming Upper St. Clair High School senior also placed second in the 200-meter dash at WPIAL and assisted her team in capturing 5th place in the 4 by 100-meter relay.

At the 2022 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA Girls' Track and Field Championships, Miss Prunzik placed second in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash, ending the season ranked #1 in both the 100 and 200 meter dash on the all-time Upper St. Clair Track and Field record lists.

Commissioner Todd D. Burlingame presented Miss Prunzik with the award, noting that the Board hopes to see her again next year.

Later, Coach Douglas Petrick shared appreciation for fellow coach, Matt Cosgrove and Miss Prunzik’s parents, Dan and Sandra, stating “Her family is such a supportive, positive group… instrumental in guiding Dani as a positive role model for student-athletes at USC, in the WPIAL, PIAA, and beyond.”
