Programs for Older Adults

If you are interested in meeting people your age, we invite you to participate in the variety of programs offered through the Community & Recreation Center and the Department of Recreation & Leisure Services. There are many activities of which to choose.

ACCESS and Port Authority Senior Citizen Program
Applications for the Port Authority Senior Connect Transit card and the ACCESS 65 Plus Coordinated, Shared-Ride Paratransit Service are available at the Community & Recreation Center, 1551 Mayview Rd., Upper St. Clair, PA 15241. Application must be made in person at the Community & Recreation Center during business hours Monday-Friday. Proof of age (65) is required at the time of application.
Silver Card Program
This is a free program for any residents of Upper St. Clair age 62 or older. Applications may be made at the Community & Recreation Center, 1551 Mayview Rd., Upper St. Clair, PA 15241. Proof of age and residency must be submitted at the time of application. The following benefits* are available to Silver Card holders:
  • Use of the Municipal three-hole golf course at no cost. Golfers must sign in at the Tennis & Golf Administration Building, 1750 McLaughlin Run Rd., Upper St. Clair, PA 15241 before entering the course.
  • Free permit for use of the Municipal Tennis Courts on McLaughlin Run Road during the outdoor season. Click here for tennis permit
  • Free participation in specified Community & Recreation Center group exercise programs. Registration is required.

Friday Afternoons in the Park 
Join others for an afternoon gathering that includes a program and light refreshments. These afternoon events are held at the Boyce Mayview Park Pavilion, 1551 Mayview Rd., Upper St. Clair, PA 15241 on the following Fridays from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Reservations are requested. Call the Community & Recreation Center and let us know which afternoon you are interested in attending at 412-221-1099 ext 0

United Senior Citizens Program
The United Senior Citizens program is sponsored by the Township of Upper St. Clair Department of Recreation & Leisure Services. In order to participate, one must be a resident of the Township, 55 years of age or older, and retired. Spouses of eligible members may also join even if under age 55.

The program meets on Wednesdays. Morning activities are informal and include the preparation of lunch with the help of volunteers from the group under Township supervision. Informal activities begin at 10 a.m. and the members hold a brief business meeting at 12 p.m., which is followed by a delicious meal.
Afternoon activities include musical entertainment, lectures or presentations of interest, book reviews, health and fitness instruction, game days, and more! In addition, day trips to various performances and places of interest are scheduled throughout the year. Most meetings are held at the McLaughlin Run Recreation Center located at 1770 McLaughlin Run Rd, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241.
