Group Swim Lessons (American Red Cross)
Our year round group swim lesson program works with individuals of all ages and swimming abilities; beginning with skills like water familiarization and swimming readiness and progressing to advanced stroke development and fitness swimming.  To select the appropriate level for you or your child, please view the skills chart below.

*Fees for Group Swim Lessons are based upon the number of classes in a session as well as membership status.

Group Swim Lesson Skills Chart 
Select the best class for you or your child before registering for lessons, please note that all parent and child group classes require adult/guardian to be in water assisting child. Preschool level 2 and above require skills to be performed independently without floatation. 

Parent & Child Program-Skills Taught (6 months to 4 years of age)
Parent & Child Level 1 (Parent must be in the water assisting child)
  • Water familiarization and swimming readiness
  • Provide safety information for parents and teach techniques parents can use to orient their children to water
Parent & Child Level 2 (Parent must be in the water assisting child)
  • Improve skills learned in Parent & Child Level 1 and teach more advanced skills
  • Continue to build water safety knowledge
Preschool Swim Program-Skills Taught (Ages 4 to 5)
Preschool Level 1 (Skills will be taught with instructor assistance)
  • Entering/Exiting water safely
  • Submerging face & blowing bubbles
  • Assisted front & back glide for two body lengths
  • Back float
  • Arm and hand treading action
  • Arm and leg action on front and back
Preschool Level 2 (Skills will be performed independently without floatation)
  • Entering water using a ladder or stairs
  • Bobbing 5 times
  • Front & back glide for 2 body lengths 
  • Front & back float
  • Arm & leg treading action for 15 seconds
  • Arm & leg action on front and back for 3 body lengths
Preschool Level 3 (Student must pass Level 2 before entering Level 3)
  • Entering water by jumping
  • Bobbing 10 times
  • Rotary breathing
  • Back glide for 3 body lengths 
  • Front float for 10 seconds & back float for 15 seconds
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Arm & leg action on front and back for 5 body lengths
Preschool Level 4-Advanced Preschool (Student must pass Level 3 before entering Level 4)
  • Diving from seated and kneeling position
  • Deep water floating on front and back
  • Streamlined position pushes off from wall
  • Front and back crawl
  • Elementary backstroke
Youth Learn to swim Program-Skills Taught (Ages 6+)
Level 1 
  • Bubble blowing
  • Retrieving objects under water
  • Back float
  • Arm treading
  • Assisted front and back glide
  • Arm and leg action on front and back 2 body lengths
Level 2 (Students must pass Level 1 before entering Level 2)
  • Submerge under water for 10 seconds
  • Rotary breathing
  • Front & back glide for 2 body lengths 
  • Front & back floating
  • Arm & leg treading action
  • Arm & leg actions on front and back for 5 body lengths
Level 3 (Student must pass Level 2 before entering Level 3)
  • Dive from sitting and kneeling position 
  • Survival floating
  • Treading- 1 minute
  • Front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke- 25 yards
  • Breaststroke and dolphin kick
Level 4 (Student must pass Level 3 before entering Level 4)
  • Diving 
  • Open turns for front and back crawl
  • Treading- 2 minutes
  • Breaststroke and butterfly-15 yards
  • Dolphin kick
Level 5 (Student must pass Level 4 before entering Level 5)
  • Shallow angle diving
  • Flip turns for front and back crawl 
  • Treading- 5 minutes
  • Front/back crawl and Elementary backstroke-50 yards
  • Breaststroke and butterfly-25 yards
  • Sidestroke, sculling
Level 6 (Student must pass Level 5 before entering Level 6)
  • Skill proficiency-working on stroke technique
  • Fitness swimmer: Building endurance
  • Swimming fundamentals (Sets, pace clock, circle swimming)

Private Swim Lessons

Our private swim lessons provide an opportunity to work one on one with an experienced aquatics instructor to improve swimming skills.

Outdoor Pool
Outside Lily Pad and Slide
C&RC Members have access to both indoor and outdoor pool amenities, no advanced reservation required.
C&RC Members are welcome to bring up to five guests per membership at a fee of $15 per guest (Ages 2 and older) per visit. No reservation required. Members must directly accompany their guests when entering the facility.
C&RC Members and their guests have exclusive access to the facility on the weekends.

Non-members are welcome to purchase a daily visitor pass Monday through Friday and must do so in advance onlineSpace is limited. No daily visitor passes will be sold at the door or on Saturdays and Sundays. Click here for more information
