Department ofRecreation and LeisureMunicipal Tennis CourtsDifferent Strokes Tennis League | Paddle Tennis | Summer Tennis Program Tennis Bubble Program | Tennis Instruction Summer Tennis ProgramUpper St. Clair maintains 10 tennis courts in the Municipal Park on McLaughlin Run Road. Permits and a tennis Photo I.D. are required for play on the Municipal Courts. For those not wishing to purchase permits, neighborhood tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis at Baker Park, Byrnwick Park, Hays Park, Johnston Park, and Trotwood Park. These neighborhood courts are not available on a permit basis and, except for Baker, do not have lights. Resident usage is first-come first-served. Occasionally, however, the Baker Courts may be reserved for tennis instruction. Copies of the Rules and Regulations for the season are available at the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services or at the Municipal Tennis Courts. Registration for the Summer Tennis Program usually begins the first part of April. Check the Spring/Summer Township Recreation Brochure for registration information and fees. Tennis InstructionThe Staff of the Upper St. Clair Tennis Development Program, Inc. offers tennis clinics and lessons for both adults and juniors. Call the USCTDP office at 412.257.2998 for information about Adult Mixed Doubles, Round Robin Play, Junior Travel Team, and Tiny Tots. Different Strokes Tennis LeagueDifferent Strokes Tennis League organizes Spring and Fall league play for players of all levels on the Municipal Courts. Paddle Tennis CourtsThere are two Paddle Tennis Courts available to residents in the main municipal park on McLaughlin Run Road. Random time play is available on an hourly rate. Random time reservations are permitted up to one week in advance. The Paddle Tennis Courts are available for non-resident use when not in demand by Upper St. Clair residents. Permits are issued for league play at a reduced hourly rate. The summer season runs approximately from mid-April to the beginning of October. The winter paddle tennis program tentatively runs for about 28 weeks from the beginning of October until mid April. For winter scheduling and rates check the Fall/Winter Township Recreation Programs brochure, available each year around the beginning of September. Tennis Bubble ProgramThe Tennis Bubble Program tentatively runs for about 28 weeks from the beginning of October until mid April. During these months the courts in the Municipal Park on McLaughlin Run Road are enclosed under an air bubble structure to enable winter play. Bubble time, available on a permit basis, goes on sale around the 2nd week of September at the Recreation Department. Random time is available for players who do not wish to purchase a season permit. The tennis bubbles are usually closed on the following days:
