ARAD Gives Generous Grant
to the Township of Upper St. Clair

The Township of Upper St. Clair values Allegheny Regional Asset District for their continued support with our development of Boyce Mayview Park. With ARAD's generous contribution for 2010 of $200,000 in capital support and $185,000 in operational support, the Township is able to continually maintain and expand facilities and services for our regional audience.

In 1996 Upper St. Clair acquired 238 acres of the Mayview Farm property from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The location of this property directly adjacent to the Township's 236 acre Boyce Park property called out for a Masterplan process which would examine potential development and conservation opportunities for the now combined Boyce / Mayview Park.

These two largely undeveloped properties contain extensive woodlands, level fields and open spaces as well as stream valleys, hiking trails and active vegetable gardens.

Chartiers Creek and the extensive wetlands constructed and owned by PennDOT form the western boundary of the properties and the creek and wetlands together with the park land, provide a diverse habitat to waterfowl, birds, plants and many types of wildlife.

An update of the Masterplan with a map(PDF) explains where the planning process is today.
