Department ofPublic WorksGrounds MaintenanceGrounds MaintenanceParks MaintenanceThe Township owns and maintains approximately 733 acres of parks and open spaces, requiring varying degrees of maintenance attention including mowing, fertilizing, flower and shrub planting, and equipment maintenance. ForestryThe Township's tree planting and maintenance program is closely aligned with the parks maintenance. Activities include Spring and Fall tree planting in parks and on Township sites, stump removal, disease control, tree trimming and maintenance, and gypsy moth control. Golf Course MaintenanceA three-hole golf course owned by the Township and located along McLaughlin Run Road is open to all residents during the summer season. Approximate course play per season is 8,000 rounds. The Public Works Department dedicates one full time man during the season to maintain the course. Tennis Courts MaintenanceThe tennis program is conducted at ten lighted courts located in the Community Park. The courts are available on a fee basis seven days a week during the months of April through October. Day and evening supervision is provided during the summer months of June, July and August. Advanced reservations for informal singles and doubles play are scheduled by township supervisors. Two Township courts located at Baker School are also available for permit play during the summer months. Paddle tennis courts are also available at the Community Park. In 1989 gas heaters were installed permitting year-round play at the paddle tennis court facility. |
