1830 Log House Association

Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania

The 1830 Log House Association promotes the preservation of Upper St. Clair's 1830 Log House located on McLaughlin Run Road directly across from the Township Building. The members of the Association also work to educate and inform their fellow citizens on the 1830's lifestyle.

Over the years, members have worked with USC Public Works employees to clean and repair the house structure. They have primed doors and windows and painted them with the 1827 "maroon rust" color. They have washed walls to prevent graying, repaired foundation cracks, and the stone stairs. They have patched the chinking (the cream colored filler between the logs) and reinforced the roof to withstand the Western Pennsylvania winters. They have also planted trees and tended to the surrounding landscape.

Upper St. Clair residents, schools and groups are encouraged to use the House for gatherings. An application, along with Township regulations, may be obtained from the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services. Neighboring communities are also welcome.

The Log House Association members host the Community Day Open House in the Spring and the Holiday Open House in the Fall. Everyone is welcome to join as financial and community support is needed. Membership is $10 per year and an annual meeting of members is usually held in January. Call Kim Guzzi at 412.851.0570 for more information.
