Construction work to replace the 104-year-old McLaughlin Run Road Bridge in Bridgeville is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-March, according to borough officials.
Borough Engineer Joe Sites gave council members an update on the $1 million PennDOT project at their meeting Monday night.
McLaughlin Run Road will be closed during construction and traffic will be detoured 5.5 miles via Bower Hill, Painters Run and McMillan roads. About 7,000 motorists a day use the bridge.
A temporary pedestrian crossing also will be provided.
Construction is expected to last about eight months.
