Adult ServicesIn addition to helping with the many activities of the Friends of the Library, volunteers are also needed for the circulation desk, shelf reading and other projects. Fill out a form available at the library or online Volunteer Profile Questionnaire (PDF) so that the library can fit your interests, experience and availability to the needed jobs. Students can volunteer at the USC Library in the following ways:
New! Upper St. Clair Playhouse: November 2010 - February 2011Children in grades 5-12 are invited to join the Volunteer Readers Theater/Play Troupe. This year, we will be putting on a small play for the enjoyment of our community members. This program will run from November through February and require a strong commitment by volunteers and their parents. To become more involved or to learn more about this program, please contact Colleen Miles at the Library. Summer Reading Volunteer Work 2010It is never too early to begin thinking aobut your school year volunteer requirements! During the summer, the Library offers volunteer opportunities on an expanded basis for middle and high school students. The summertime is the best time to volunteer because there are more volunteer opportunities available. Hours during the school year cannot be guaranteed. Registrations for summer volunteering begin on Wednesday May 26, and slots are available on a first come, first served basis! Do you like to use the computer? Join the Library's Teen Advisory Board! Students in grades 5 and higher are invited to join the USC Library's TAB. As a member of the TAB you will have the opportunity to preview the newest library books for your age group, and help the librarians select new books, music and DVDs. Another role of the TAB will be to give other readers advice about what to read. Working together, members of the TAB will write and publish a newsletter of book reviews for all of the juvenile and teen library's readers.
