Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends

Friends of the Library of Upper St. Clair was organized in 1957 and became a non-profit corporation in 1988. Its sole purpose is to support the Township Library. The Friends do this through fund-raising and volunteer activities. The business of the Friends is managed by a Board of Directors elected annually.

What do Friends do?

  • Collect, sort, and store books donated for the Annual Book Sale
  • Plan and conduct the Annual Book Sale (six days in May)
  • Help write, publish, and mail the quarterly Newsletter of the Library and the Friends
  • Assist Library staff with daily activities and special events
  • Purchase non-budgeted Library equipment and materials – more than $232,000 since 1980
