Storytimes and Classes Fall 2010

  • All children's programs are free of charge.
  • Registration for all programs must be done in person at the Library.
  • To ensure quality programs, limiting groups by size and age is often necessary.
  • During classes, all caregivers are required to stay within the Library building.

Family Storytime

If you have kids between 2 and 7 years of age, you're invited to spend a fun evening sharing stories, songs and games. Active participation by kids and parents is strongly encouraged!

Who:Children ages 2 - 7 and parents, grandparents, or caregivers
Dates:September 16, October 14, November 4, December 9
When:Thursday at 7:00 p.m
Where:Children's Library

Registration for the September 16 Storytime begins Monday, August 30
Registration for the October 14 Storytime begins Monday, October 4
Registration for the November 4 Storytime begins Monday, October 25
Registration for the December 9 Storytime begins begins Monday, November 29


Saturday Stories

Join Miss Pam for stories, songs, fingerplays, and book related activities! Children attend storytime on their own. Caregivers are asked to assist their child with an activity at the end of the class. This class will occur on one Saturday per month. Please check the Library for future dates.

Who:Children ages 3 ½ to 6 years of age

When:Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
Where:Children's Story Room

Babies and Toddlers

This program combines action rhymes, songs, interactive play, and books in a fast paced program designed to hold the attention of our youngest participants. It concludes with a playtime. Active parental participation is encouraged.

Who:Children ages 4 to 24 months with a caregiver
Dates:September 27 - November 1
When:Mondays at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.
Where:Children's Story Room

Twos and Threes

This half-hour program features books and stories, action rhymes and songs, puppets and play. It concludes with a playtime. Active parental participation is encouraged.

Who:Children ages 2 to 3 ½ years old with a caregiver
Dates:September 29/30 - November 3/4
When:Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.
When:Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.

Pre-school Storytime

This fun and educational half-hour program features stories, songs, finger plays, and book-related activities. Children attend storytime on their own. Caregivers are asked to join the program when an activity ends the program.

Who:Pre-schoolers ages 3 ½, 4, and 5 years old who are ready to spend a half-hour on their own
Dates:September 30/October 1 - November 4/5
 Thursdays at 1:45 p.m.
WhenFridays at 10:00 a.m. or 1:45 p.m.

Science & Math in the Library

In this six week class, we'll be exploring simple science and math concepts through books and hands-on activities. Each week a different concept will be explored including: Weather, Measurement, Sorting and Building. This program will have a limited enrollment but it will be repeated in the winter. Children attending this class must be at least 5 years old.

Who:Children 4 ½ and older who are not yet in 1st grade
Dates:September 28 - November 2

Library Explorers

This fall we will explore the animal world! Each week a different animal will be discovered using fiction stories, non-fiction books and hands on activities. Topics will include: panda bears, bugs/butterflies, sharks, monkeys, snakes and dinosaurs!

Who:Children who are currently in Kindergarten
Dates:September 29 - November 3
When:Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. or 1:45 p.m.
Where:Children's Library

Book Trek: Animal Odyssey

This fall we will take an odyssey through the animal world. Each week a different biome will be explored using fiction stories, non-fiction books and hands on activities. Topics will include: deserts, rainforests, the oceans, the Arctic/Antarctic, the African Savannah and animals you can find in your own backyard!

Who:Children in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades
Dates:September 28/29 - November 2/3
When:Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
