Storytimes and Classes Spring 2010

  • All children's programs are free of charge.
  • Registration for all programs must be done in person at the Library.
  • To ensure quality programs, limiting groups by size and age is often necessary.
  • During classes, all caregivers are required to stay within the Library building.

Family Storytime

If you have kids between 2 and 7 years of age, you're invited to spend a fun evening sharing stories, songs and games. Active participation by kids and parents is strongly encouraged!

Who:Children ages 2 - 7 and parents, grandparents, or caregivers
Dates:March 11, April 8, May 13
When:Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Where:Children's Story Room

Registration for the March 11 Storytime begins Monday March 1
Registration for the April 8 Storytime begins Monday March 29
Registration for the May 13 Storytime begins Monday May 3


Saturday Stories

Join Miss Pam for stories, songs, fingerplays, and book related activities! Children attend storytime on their own. Caregivers are asked to assist their child with an activity at the end of the class. This class will occur on one Saturday per month. Please check the Library for future dates.

Who:Children ages 3 ½ to 6 years of age
Dates:Saturday, March 20; April and May TBA
When:Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
Where:Children's Story Room

Registration for the March class begins Monday March 8
April and May registrations TBA.


Babies and Toddlers

This program combines action rhymes, songs, interactive play, and books in a fast paced program designed to hold the attention of our youngest participants. It concludes with a playtime. Active parental participation is encouraged.

Who:Children ages 4 to 24 months with a caregiver
Dates:April 5 - May 3
When:Mondays at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.
Where:Children's Story Room

Twos and Threes

This half-hour class features books and stories, action rhymes and songs, and puppets and play. Active parental participation is encouraged.

Who:Children ages 2 to 3 ½ years old with a caregiver
Dates:April 7/8 - May 5/6
When:Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.
 Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.

Pre-school Storytime

This fun and educational half-hour class features stories, songs, finger plays, and book-related activities. Children attend storytime on their own. Caregivers are asked to assist their child with an activity at the end of the program.

Who:Pre-Schoolers ages 3 ½, 4, and 5 years old who are ready to spend a half-hour on their own
Dates:April 8/9 - May 6/7
 Thursdays at 1:45 p.m.
WhenFridays at 10:00 a.m. or 1:45 p.m.

Science & Math in the Library

In this six week class, we'll be exploring simple science and math concepts through books and hands-on activities. Each week a different concept will be explored including: Weather, Measurement, Sorting, and Building. This class will have a limited enrollment but it will be repeated beginning in the fall. Children attending this class must be at least 5 years old.

Who:Children 5 years and older who are not yet in 1st grade
Dates:April 6 - May 4

Library Explorers

This spring we'll explore the earth and sky! Using books and hands-on activities, your kindergartner will become an expert on a variety of topics about our physical world. Each week a different part of the earth and sky will be investigated including: worms, seeds, gravity, the sun, and the solar system.

Who:Children who are currently in Kindergarten
Dates:April 7 - May 5
When:Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. or 1:45 p.m.
Where:Children's Library

Book Trek

This spring we'll be having fun with physical science! This after school class will combine books with activities and projects designed to introduce different physical science concepts. Topics will include: slime and gack, using hot air to make things move, magnets, and magnetism. Every other week we will also be welcoming therapy dogs Molly and Piper. Participants will get to choose a book to read to the dogs and work on projects, activity sheets, and games that will exercise their brains.

Who:Kids in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades
Dates:April 6/7 - May 4/5
When:Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
