The Upper St. Clair Adult Library has a core collection of materials to support lifelong learning and leisure time activities, as well as timely materials on current topics.
The following specialized collections are available for specific interests:
- Walk-in Collection of high demand items
- Reference materials
- Business and financial books and services
- Education and Career Center, including school directories, test preparation and career planning books
- Large Print Books
- Playaways
- Abridged and unabridged books on tape and CD
- Popular movies, instructional and documentary films, on videocassette and DVD
- Computer software (games and programs) for circulation
- Vertical File with pamphlets and clippings

Reference and Reader's Advisory
The Adult Reference Desk is located in the center of the nonfiction collection and a reference librarian is always available to help with your questions.

Fax service is available at the adult circulation desk Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for $1 per page. International fax service is not available.
- Financial Aid and college test applications.

The Library Multi-Purpose Room is available for local non-profit group use. Please read the policy before completing an application form.

Computers in the Library
The library makes a variety of computer services available to the public (all with printers @15 cents per page). Color printers are also available.
Personal documents can only be saved on a USB (flash) device.
Wireless access is also available for laptops with a wireless card.
Internet Access and Word Processing
The library has 12 computers on the adult floor with Internet access and Microsoft Office 2007, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Time-management software limits use to 1 hour if others are waiting.
Assistive technology
New assistive technology is also now available on the Library Internet
workstations. Two programs help visually impaired patrons:
- Magic is a screen enlargement program
- Jaws synthesizes speech for "screen reading"
A third new option is Multilanguage capability, which gives you the ability to change the language of the screen to read and write in a chosen language.
The reference librarians can help you use any of this new software.
Filtering
The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is a federal law that requires all computers in a public library to be filtered.
All Library computers are filtered.
