McLaughlin Run Stream Buffer

Upper St. Clair Township and USC Citizens for Land Stewardship were awarded a grant through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with funds available under the Clean Water Act to study and improve water quality within the McLaughlin Run Watershed. The objective of the project was to complete a streamside stabilization and riparian forest buffer corridor improvement project along McLaughlin Run in the Township.

McLaughlin Run Stream

The projects goals were to complete the above conservation measures to reduce and/or eliminate further Non-Point Source (NPS) pollution (Urban runoff erosion and sedimentation) occurring to the stream channel area and thus improve water quality (Stream Hydrology) in McLaughlin Run and the Chartiers Creek Watershed.

Additional benefits from this project will include enhanced flood protection for recreational and infrastructure facilities, and improved wildlife habitat through restoration of native flora within the riparian zone.
