The department directs the community according to a path which is set forth in the Comprehensive Plan, and reviewed by the Planning Commission every ten years. One current project born out of the latest Comprehensive Plan is the Sidewalks and Bikeways Plan that, although in its early stages of development, is designed to bring a functional network of sidewalks to the community. Planning CommissionThe Planning Commission reviews applications and makes recommendations on development plans and code amendments. The Planning Commission also assists in the preparation of the Comprehensive Plan. 2005 Comprehensive PlanThe Comprehensive Plan states basic objectives that guide future growth and development. The plan expresses a long-term vision for the community. McLaughlin Run Road Corridor StudyThis study identifies future development strategies for the corridor. The Comprehensive Plan identifies the preparation of this study as a short-term recommendation for the Township to implement. Sidewalks & Bikeways PlanA study conducted by the Department of Planning and Community Development, in accordance with the 1995 Comprehensive Plan, has led to the creation of a proposed network of sidewalks and bikeways intended to link the community with many of its valuable resources. |
