Inspections
Inspections are generally required throughout a project. Upon completion of work, the Township requires a final inspection. Approval for occupancy and use will be granted upon satisfactory completion of the work in compliance with the Township Code and the issued permit. Not only is obtaining a final inspection important to ensure that work has been conducted properly, but it also avoids a potential delay in the future sale of the property.
Inspection Checklist
The following list indicates various inspections required by the Township. Specific inspections vary depending on the project. An inspection sheet is attached to each building permit so the property owner and contractor are aware of which inspections are required for their project.
Township 1 Footing Inspection:
Performed after forming; before placing concrete
Township 2 Outside Sewer Inspection:
For tap where no wye is found
Electrical 3 Inspection:
Prior to prelathe
Plumbing 4 Inspection:
Prior to prelathe
Township 1 Prelathe Inspection:
After electrical and plumbing inspections;
before insulating, lathing, and drywall
Township 2 Conductors/French Drain/Pump Inspection:
Prior to backfilling
Township 2 Driveway Inspection:
Prior to pouring concrete
Final Electrical 3 Inspection:
Prior to final inspection by Township
Final Plumbing 4 Inspection:

After completion of all work and all prior inspections
1 For Township Inspections by the Building Inspector, call 412.831.9000 ext. 501. Please give 24-hours notice. Hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
2 For Township Inspections by the Public Works Department, call 412. 831.9000 ext. 271. Hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
3 For Electrical Inspections call 1.800.422.6342, Middle Department Inspection Agency, Clyde Volk, Inspector.
4 For Plumbing Inspections call 412.278.2515, Allegheny County Health Department Plumbing.
