Department ofCommunity DevelopmentSatellite DishesIn order to preserve the community environment and lessen the impact on the neighborhood surroundings, the Township has set in place requirements for the proper location and installation of satellite dishes over two feet in diameter. These requirements have been established to protect property owners while ensuring reasonable accommodation of this technology. Proper location includes erecting the dish to the rear of the dwelling, fifteen feet from the side lot lines and fifty feet from the rear lot line. Illustrations below show the permitted installation area for interior lots and for corner lots. Satellite dishes may not be placed on any part of the dwelling, including decks and porches, or on any accessory structure such as a shed or a detached garage. The Township guidelines for proper placement of satellite dishes can be found in Chapter 130 of the Township Code which is available in the Community Development Department, the Township Reception Desk area and the Township Library. At the Community Development Department, staff are available to assist in the filing of the proper applications for the satellite dish installation as well as for properly locating the dish on the lot.
