Household Hazardous Waste Collection

In an effort to stay committed to sustainability and our local environment, the Township of Upper St. Clair is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection.

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 12

Where: Municipal Building Parking Lot, 1820 McLaughlin Run Road

Why: Leftover household products such as paints, cleaners, oils, batteries and pesticides contain potentially hazardous ingredients that require special care when you dispose of them. Improper disposal can include pouring them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers or putting them out in the trash. The improper disposal of these wastes can pollute the environment and post a threat to human health. 

What Not To Bring: Explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, large appliances, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, pharmaceuticals, syringes, medical waste, tires, mercury-containing items

There is a cost for residents to drop off their household hazardous waste. ECS&R accepts cash, check or credit card. Here are the costs:

Hazardous Household Waste - $1.50/lb.
Propane Tanks - $8/each
Universal Waste (i.e. Batteries, Florescent Bulbs) - $1.50/lb.
Small Freon-Containing Devices - $0.65/lb.
