Upper St. Clair Engineer Retires After 20 Years of Service

After 20 years of service, Township Engineer Ruthann L. Omer, P.E. will be retiring.

Mrs. Omer will be retiring as the President of The Gateway Engineers, Inc. on Dec. 31, thereby leaving her position as Engineer for the Township of Upper St. Clair. The Board of Commissioners recognized her service to the Township at their monthly meeting in December. Commissioner Russell R. Del Re presented Mrs. Omer with a proclamation.

Mrs. Omer has been instrumental as a municipal team leader and principal in charge of many Township projects, including Boyce Mayview Park, the Community & Recreation Center, Upper St. Clair main fire station, the Veterans Park, and many other park and sewer utility projects.

As a lifelong Upper St. Clair resident, Mrs. Omer has contributed significantly to the growth and overall quality of life in the Township.

“It’s always a pleasure being able to make positive changes in the community you live in,” said Mrs. Omer. “I’d never want to live anywhere else.”

Along with her dedication to the Township, Omer serves on a number of boards and committees, and has been an educator with the Local Government Academy since 1990. Mrs. Omer has received multiple recognitions throughout her careers and promotes the recruitment of more women in the fields of engineering, science and management.

Mrs. Omer performed her duties with high standards, maintaining a positive spirit of cooperation and respect with the commissioners, planning commission and Township staff. We wish her a happy and healthy retirement.
